While Friedrichshain is seen as a hotspot for creatives and Berlin newcomers, the neighbouring district to the east, Lichtenberg, has been catching up fast in recent years. The area is already highly popular among students. Thanks to its excellent public transport infrastructure and moderate prices, Lichtenberg is the ideal starting point in life.
The hip scene around Ostkreuz, Schlesisches Tor and MediaSpree is a mere stone‘s throw away. Rummelsburg Bay, and the close-by nature protection areas offer leisure activities at and on the water surrounded by green practically next door.
In urban construction terms, Lichtenberg is dominated by Wilhelminian-era buildings, simple residential areas and family homes. However, more recently, well-known project developers have discovered the attractive properties of Friedrichshain-Lichtenberg and are investing in building modern residential projects that underscore the diversity of the location.
And the economy has also recognised the potential of the traditional business location. A number of new companies have moved their premises to the area, creating jobs and increasing the need for residential space.
